Title: Fly Away
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea/Oberon, Scott
Rating: R (Mature themes, but nothing explicit)
Word Count: 2,736
Continuity: Elseworld prequel -- roughly six months before Diamond In the Rough
Summary: Oberon is just a step away from freedom. But it’s the hardest step to take.
Disclaimer: DC owns ‘em.
Author’s Notes/Warnings: Bea/Oberon is probably the least-written canon pairing in the DCU. (In fact, I’ve never seen it. Ever.) I’m actually a little bit sorry that my first attempt at tackling them is in an Elseworld where the relationship is so twisted and violent.
Title: The Blood of Gods and Kings
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Tora, Bea, Ted, Guy, L-Ron, Queen Olaf (flashback only)
Rating: R
Word Count: 5,473
Continuity: Elseworld. Flashbacks take place sixteen, twelve, eight, and four years ago respectively. The "present-day" sections of the story take place directly after Diamond in the Rough.
Summary: Tora's story. Tora sleeps, Bea makes a deal with Mad Doc Kord, Guy notices… things.
Disclaimer: DC owns ‘em.
Author’s Notes/Warnings: Nothing explicit, but there are definitely some mature themes here (slavery, rape, war, etc.).
Special notes on Norse mythology/Tora's spirituality, because this will come up again: Given the culture she grew up in, it's likely that Tora was named in honor of Thor, Norse god of thunder. He's generally regarded as a loud, brash redhead (hmm...), but he was also viewed as a protector and is a very important god to Tora's people. It's worth noting that when slaves die, they go to Thor's hall, Bilskirnir. Vali, who gets one tiny mention here, is a Norse god of vengeance.

Title: Diamond in the Rough
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea, Guy, Tora
Rating: R
Word Count: 3,934
Continuity: Unnamed Elseworlds. Takes place at roughly the same time as Mad Doc Kord.
Summary: Lord Maxwell’s Knights put down a slave rebellion and find something special hidden in the slave yard.
Disclaimer: DC owns ‘em.
Author’s Notes/Warnings: It is possible that Bea is crazier than Mad Doc Kord. Guy, whipped? Possibly. Also, a few of the minor characters mentioned in passing here will show up again eventually and have greater roles to play. I pledge to craft a universe with more Oberon in it. For Great Justice.
Title: Snowed In
Author: Duskdog

Word Count: 1390
Prompt: Cabin Fever (T7; P39)
Continuity: After the end of Guy Gardner: Warrior and JLA v.2, but before GL: Rebirth.
Summary: It's like a plot for a horror movie: Guy and Bea are snowed in at Warriors... with Guy's mom.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: Now I desperately want to contrive a reason for Guy and Bea to have a bastard fire-baby.
Title: Mouse
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea, Booster, Guy, J'onn, Ted, Tora
Rating: PG

( The joys of bisexuality below the cut )
I had occasion to consider Guy/Ted as a pairing recently (thanks boostle), and decided that it was probably the only JLI pairing that I just couldn't make happen in my head. You'd think it would at least be a possibility, given the tension that always existed between them (isn't tension something that we as fans love to turn into something sexual? I'll admit that I do.), but I just can't see it.
But it did get me to thinking about what pairings I can see, and why. I'm not saying that any of these actually happened, or even actually would happen, just that... well, let's put it this way: I think I could write them and folks would go "Oh hey, that sort of makes sense" rather than "...Where the hell did that come from?".
So let me be a pathetic fangirl for a moment and discuss my pairings that I really want to see written.
( Pairings beneath the cut, both canon and crack )So that's how I feel about something that really doesn't matter but is fun to think about anyway. Thoughts? Feelings? Ideas? Fic?
A fine meme stolen from
I actually have a ton of WIPs, mostly because I tend to jot down every great dialogue exchange or idea that I get, but not all of them end up becoming a real WIP or full-fledged fic. I also occasionally will write something that I think sounds wonderful, but it ends up being scrapped in favor of something better or the story changes so that it no longer fits, and I save these little discarded paragraphs, too. So I'm actually not including these random snippets here -- only those things that can actually be considered a work-in-progress with a solid idea behind them (in other words, something that I do intend to finish in some form or fashion at some point).
( In an alternate universe, there was murder (the killing kind) and slash (the gay kind)! )
( Hal: your ex is on to you. )
( Guy is a good tipper )( Mike and Teddy, sittin' in a tree )( Kyle's passionate man-love for Hal, and also Oompa Loompas )
( Skeets: not a doorknob or a metal kazoo )( Guy and Kyle pick out curtains )( Bea/Guy and angry sex )( Joe Gardner is a bad bad man. )
( Breaking up with Ollie )
There are more than this, but I think I better stop there for now. That's a lot of stuff. If there's anything in particular that really interests you, or if you have any cool ideas for them, please tell me. I really need to start paring down the WIP pile.

Rating: NC-17 (okay, it's not crazy graphic, but just to be safe...)
Word Count: 1,477
Prompt: Alive
Continuity: Right after Bea and Tora's reunion in the pages of Checkmate
Summary: Tora's alive. Bea just needs to be sure.

Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea, Booster, Batman, Guy, J'onn, Ted, Tora
Rating: PG
Word Count: 2,824
Continuity: Eight months after A Wicker Basket
Summary: Eight months ago, someone very powerful with a sick sense of humor left a wicker basket and a note: Please take care of my babies! But they're J'onn's babies -- they always were, and they always will be -- and if he has to care for them the rest of their lives to make up for failing them this one time, he will.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: I hadn't intended on a sequel, but the image of hermit!J'onn living in the dark locked-down embassy with Justice Kittens haunted me until this happened.

Rating: R (language)
Word Count: 3,384
Prompt: Tender (T11; P02)
Continuity: Superbuddies AU, roughly a year after Letting Go
Summary: Mary has lost her powers, and almost promptly breaks her ankle playing basketball. Guy feels responsible.

Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea/Tora
Rating: R (Best friends talking about sex -- do the math)
Word Count: 2,512
Prompt: Gender-Swap (Cliche Fic-a-Thon #9)
Continuity: JLI-era
Summary: Thanks to some questionable magic and something that was probably Booster's fault, Bea is cursed with the body of a man for a couple of days. She's making the best of it, but Tora is mildly squicked.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: The thing I like best about Bea/Tora as a couple is that it doesn't change the fact that they were (and are) best friends, first. I would kill for a Fire and Ice: Year One sort of thing detailing their adventures when they first met. Sure, DC would probably never go the femslash route, but that's okay: BEST FRIENDS! I think female readers could really connect with a pair of characters who have the same sorts of conversations that they have with their best friends when they're hanging out in a bedroom together or eyeing hot guys or are a little bit drunk at the pool. And also, there would be crimefighting. (P.S. Bea/Tora icons -- anyone have any up for grabs?)

Word Count: 1,188
Continuity: Your guess is as good as mine. JLI-era AU?
Summary: When brute force couldn't defeat the Justice League, something gentle and innocent did.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: This story started out funny. Then, with edits, it became cute. And then, somehow, it ended up like this, and I have now officially creeped myself out. Written for the Summer of Cliches Fic-a-Thon, prompt #14.

Characters/Pairing: Bea, Booster, Guy, J'onn, Ted, Tora
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 1,283
Prompt: Cookout (Summer Challenge special prompt)
Continuity: Some random point during the JLI's existence.
Summary: The Justice League has a summer cookout. And, being the mature bunch of people they are, surely they wouldn't do the same thing with watermelon seeds that kids the world over do, right?
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.

Characters/Pairing: Bea/Tora (Fire/Ice, y'know, it's a natural combo.)
Rating: PG
Word Count: 1,651
Continuity: Bea and Tora's days with the Global Guardians. (Or, in terms of my fic, after Lost and Found but before Spontanaeity.)
Summary: It's snowing in Paris. Tora is thrilled. Bea is... not.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: Not-quite-fluent!Tora owns my heart. And Bea's, only neither of them quite realize it yet at this point. Bea = crushing SO HARD. Yeah, I know I said I wanted to write some Tora independent of Bea and/or Guy, and I am, but this happened in the meantime. Wait, what... I don't have a Bea/Tora icon?
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea/Tora
Rating: PG
Word Count: 3,027
Continuity: Just after Tora joins the Global Guardians.
Summary: Tora just wanted to expand her horizons. But now she's lost and alone in Paris, and doesn't speak any language but her own. Someone had better come find her.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: I have intense love for these two, even without Guy as the filling in their sexy sandwich. LOVE, I say.
Author: Duskdog
Characters/Pairing: Bea, Booster, Guy, Tora, Ted
Rating: PG-13
Word Count: 2,094
Continuity: Just after Afterglow
Summary: The JLI is still trapped in a world where their powers don't work. In fact... it's a pretty normal world in every respect. More specifically, it's the great state of Georgia.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: The setting of this one won't make any sense unless you read at least the three paragraphs or so of Afterglow. I was asked for further adventures in the normal world, and this is what happened: silliness. Have you noticed how superheroes hardly ever come from the south, except for those few token stereotype characters with ridiculous accents? And how they hardly ever have adventures in the southeastern US?
The JLI is reasonably popular these days. The characters have had a rough time of it the past few years, but they've been experiencing a revival lately. Resurrections of dead characters, popping up as a team in books like Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, getting their very own long-overdue line of action figures from DC Direct... the JLI is everywhere! But while Booster and Beetle have their very own fan following, and Guy Gardner has his, Fire and Ice have been somewhat neglected. I think, of the two, Tora seems to have more fans even though she's been dead for quite a while and isn't regularly appearing in any books right now (hopefully that will soon change, because Tomasi has said that he "has plans" for Guy and Tora in the pages of Green Lantern Corps). Bea appears regularly in Checkmate, and has actually had some pretty interesting stories over there. So why does no one ever write about her?

Rating: R
Word Count: 4,191
Prompt: Left Behind (T12; P18)
Continuity: I Can't Believe It's Not the Justice League!
Summary: Once upon a time, Guy Gardner and Beatriz da Costa loved the same woman and lost her. Now, with Mary, Guy is getting on with his life and Bea is being left behind again.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em.
Author's Notes/Warnings: Seventh, and final, in a series that began with A Bad Desire. (Check my Guy/Mary tag for the rest of the series plus other random Guy/Mary snippets.) I still have a ridiculous love affair with this pairing, so I don't think I'll be able to stop writing them just because they're finished here. I'm still considering a sequel series so that Mary can deal with telling Billy and Freddy and her parents, but we'll see. I'm going to get Guy/Mary stuck in the collective minds of the internet (and thus hopefully also the inspiration to write them) if it's the last thing I do. And Bea. Bea needs romance. I foresee a discussion of the subject of Fire as the least-loved JLI member on my LJ in the near future.

Characters/Pairing: Booster/Ted, Kyle, Connor, Guy/Tora, Bea, Bruce, Dick, Ollie, Hal, Barry, Wally, Roy. Others mentioned in passing.
Rating: PG
Word Count: 7,041
Continuity: Let's call it the Cootieverse. Still an AU of adorable proportions. It can stand alone, but it's better if you read Cooties, first.
Summary: When Bruce Wayne gets a Power Wheels for his birthday, every kid in the neighborhood has but one ambition: to get a Brucemobile of their very own! But Mike and Teddy's lemonade stand idea isn't netting them the cash that they were hoping for.
Disclaimer: DC owns 'em. Power Wheels belong to Fisher-Price, I believe, but these are little kids and keep in mind that when they say "Power Wheels" they're talking about any little-kid battery-powered car without regard to the actual brand.
Author's Notes/Warnings: I hadn't intended on writing anything else in the same vein as Cooties, but this happened. Somehow. Mike and Teddy demand to be written. Obviously, some family relationships are altered/odd so that they make more sense in a universe where everyone is a little kid. Roy and Connor are now Ollie's little brothers (apparently with different daddies -- Ollie's mom is kind of a slut I guess), and Dick, Jason, and Tim are Bruce's cousins who live with him. Wally and Bart are Barry's little brothers.
